The Art & Science of Engaging Your Team, Customers, and Community

What stories are your employees telling about their job? What stories are getting passed down to new hires, fairgoers, and your community? What story are you telling about your fair's culture? Stories aren’t something to be controlled, managed, or designed. They’ve got to be fueled. Fueled by the way your fair leadership designs the employee experience, fueled by the way your leaders lead, and fueled by how you approach the growing demand for a whole new way of work. Employee engagement is in high-demand and the organizations that know how to fuel great stories will be able to hire and retain top talent, thrill customers, and rewrite the story of their cultures.

Mike Ganino is a culture + storytelling expert who helps executives, teams, and thought leaders communicate, connect, and engage. He is the author of Company Culture for Dummies and has been named a top 30 Culture Speaker by Global Guru. His unique experience as a hospitality and tech industry executive combined with his years as an improv actor help his clients and audience craft the kinds of stories that drive their culture, boost results, and increase sales.

Mike’s work as a professional speaker, communications coach, Emcee, and trainer has helped create memorable performances and events for companies like Big Fresno Fair, Snagajob, PeopleMatter, Uber, US Foods, American Marketing Association, and more. Mike’s the Head Performance Coach for TEDx Cambridge.

Audiences love Mike’s high energy, high engagement keynotes that fire them up to rewrite the stories happening in their organization. They leave with real-life strategies they can begin implementing immediately for improved culture that drives employee and customer experience.

With a strong background as a hospitality and tech industry executive in charge of creating compelling cultures at companies like Protein Bar, ChowNow, Lettuce Entertain You, and Potbelly Sandwich Shop, Mike is the perfect choice for companies trying to create employee and customer experiences that deliver big results. His organizational know-how matched with his improv background from world-famous Second City, Upright Citizen’s Brigade, and Improv Olympics helps him work impactfully with executives and leaders to communicate on target.

Keeping It Fresh
Positive Change and Innovation Shape the Fair Experience

The fair experience is something most of us hold on to tight, as it reminds us of our childhood. The predictable elements of animals, rides, food, and vendors brings back found memories and sometimes resistance to change. It can be tricky to strike a balance between nostalgia of the past and innovation for the future. Keeping It Fresh will explore the need to look at the fair experience from the attendee’s point of view. We’ll explore opportunities to enhance the experience by anticipating what people want and need. We’ll brainstorm ways to engage people at every turn while providing customer service that is off the charts.

Becky Lunders of teamWorks is an engaging and skilled consultant, trainer and facilitator. She speaks at conferences across the country helping organizations develop leadership and sustainability. While Becky’s expertise is in the nonprofit sector, she is able to transfer her experience and skills when training the public and private sector as well. Becky is an expert in building organizational capacity. She does keynote addresses, workshop facilitation, board and staff retreats, event design and development, teambuilding, consultation and soft skills training for many of the nation’s top nonprofits and associations.

She honed her skills and developed the teamWorks philosophy while working for the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life. During her time at ACS, Becky oversaw the growth of the organization’s signature fundraising event from 24 events raising $4 million to more than 300 events raising $31 million. With that came an increase in donors, volunteers, brand awareness and mission impact. Many of those elements have also proven successful in the association space.

Becky lives in Loomis, CA with her husband and three kids. When she’s not working, she enjoys working out, cheering for her kids’ sports teams and volunteering in her community.
