Executive Director Stephen Chambers stopped by Del Norte County Fair on its opening day, Aug. 6, for a surprise visit to celebrate not only opening day, but the staff’s achievement that was recognized with the WFA 2015 Merrill Award. The fair earned the honor in recognition of the community’s support of the fair, with more than 66.6% having voted to pass Measure F and increase their own taxes to support Del Norte County Fair.
Along with his enthusiasm, Stephen brought a box of handmade “Del Norte – Merrill” cookies — enjoyed by CEO Randy Hatfield (above) — along with blue “M for Merrill” pins for the Board and staff, as well as a large congratulatory banner for the fair to display and share its achievement with the community.
Congratulations again to Del Norte County Fair and to all of our members for continually inspiring us – and each other – with your vision, leadership, and creativity. A big ‘Thank You’ goes out to Big Fresno Fair for their generous sponsorship of the Merrill Award. Big Fresno Fair is also a 2015 Merrill Award recipient, earning its Third Merrill Award for the development of the Big Fresno Fair Museum. We’ll be seeing you in October to celebrate!
