TJ shared the Salinas Valley Fair's Board Meeting Behaviors and Heritage Foundation Annual Report.

Additionally, TJ covered How to lose your 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status (without really trying).

CEO of the Dixon May Fair Pat Conklin, joined by the CFSA Finance Team, presented How to Read & Understand a Financial Statement. This session was designed for both staff and board members of fairs and fair foundations.

Knowing the financial health of your organization is key to its success, and you don't have to be an accountant to understand the financial statements presented at your board meetings. This session demonstrated what information needs to be included along with simple ways to present it so that both you and the public can understand the numbers.

Minnesota State Fair License Administration Manager Dennis Larson, CFE, hosted Wednesday's Minnesota State Fair: How it Works (click link for slides).
As part of his presentation, Dennis provided this Top 10 Foods handout. Each food category only includes stands that sell singular items.
He also provided a New Food Analysis. Dennis added that fair food favorites are localized, referencing the unpopularity of funnel cake in Minnesota.

Joining us in Reno all the way from the East Coast, Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter's Marketing & Sponsorship Director Keaton Walker shared the Georgia National School Program's approach to partnerships between State School Systems and Fairgrounds.

In addtion to discussing the Schoolhouse program, Keaton also spoke on the Rally Day Programs that can get your state CTAE Organizations to come enjoy a “Day at the Fair.”
